Health care has grown to become a significant chunk of our economy — almost 18% of our GDP was spent on health care alone. Furthermore, the health care industry employs over 12.3 million people nationwide, or about 9% of the nation’s workforce.
Given the effect that access to health care has on almost everybody’s health, it is critically important that changes to the nation’s health care system is done carefully and deliberately.

Taxes
Each of the federal, state, and local governments in the United States raise large portion of their available funds — either directly or indirectly — through individual and corporate taxes.
Changes to the tax system will greatly affect the amount of money the government has available to fund various services, like national defense, scientific research, social safety nets, consumer and environmental protection, maintenance of the nations infrastructure, and arts and cultural developments to name just a few.
